Kindergarten – 2nd Grade | 3rd Grade – 5th Grade | 6th Grade – 8th Grade

A Character Education program for both elementary and middle school, that finally gives educators, students and parents an entertaining, interactive and effective way to help students successfully deal with bullying and cyberbullying behavior.

Gain in-depth knowledge from the experts.  Learn skills and strategies to create a school environment where bullying is not acceptable.  The dangers of  cyberbullying are also discussed in great detail.
Program Objectives

Participants will learn:

  • How to use empathy to create a hostile-free environment in which bullying will not be acceptable
  • How to engage the “silent majority” of children who are the observers of the bullying behavior
  • The dangers of cyberbullying and online chat rooms
  • To distinguish between “tattling” and “telling”
  • To reclaim the bully as part of the group
  • To adopt a school-wide policy where “No Bullying is Allowed”

Methodology

  • We recommend that you start with a whole school approach including, students, staff and parents.
  • The program uses a film, overheads and role-playing activities to create an interactive workshop
  • Teachers materials are available for  follow-up activities, lesson plans and curriculum

Format

  • 4 classes per day with maximum size of 40-50 students per session
  • 40-45 minute student sessions
  • Parent workshop 45 minutes during PTA or other meeting
  • Staff development 45 minutes

Follow-up

  • Bullying Prevention/Character Education Committee should be ongoing
  • There will be a scheduled follow-up meeting with staff

Funding for this program may be available through any violence prevention grants under the SAVE Schools Act, Leave No Child Behind and through special education grants. We are also BOCES registered.
Kindergarten – 2nd Grade

  • Students are taught what a bully is and what to do if they are being bullied or if they see someone being bullied.
  • Students are taught the difference between tattling and telling
  • Students learn to stand up for the victim.

3rd Grade – 5th Grade

  • Students are taught what a bully is and what to do if they are being bullied or if they see someone being bullied.
  • Students learn about the 5 types of bullying; physical, verbal, relational, intimidation and cyberbullying.
  • Students learn about the dangers of the internet.
  • Students learn how bullying can leave lasting scars on people.

6th Grade – 8th Grade

  • Students discuss where in school they feel safe or threatened.
  • Students review the 5 types of bullying; physical, verbal, relational,intimidation and cyberbullying.
  • Students learn about the dangers of the Internet.
  • Students explore the risks of social networking such as Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
